On this day I have had a phrase in my head and tears in my eyes.

The phrase is from a popular sampler pattern circa 1864, just after the Emancipation Proclamation was put into law.

My heart is glad that my country is free.

In other news its now legal to ask a doctor to kill you in my state and California bigots suck.

Ive read a book which set this off.

But it made me feel like life is pretty pointless. Its one day after another of executing someone else's schedule for someone else's benefit that is really only necessary for your own purposes to prevent negative consequences over your person.

Every day comes on more quickly than the one before. A hair's breadth or less but still it adds up and there comes a point all too soon when the hairs ahead are fewer than the one's behind and all of a sudden that hair looks like a reed, a knife, a river carrying you on the current. And we are not too strong of swimmers, any of us. I don't think we were ever really taught how.

I remember too vividly reading another book, this one by Laura Ingalls Wilder, in which she meets a boy, he courts her and they sing about The Happy Golden Years. And at the time it was like a blessed dream, an apple almost low enough to pluck from low hanging branches.

But reality, the cold and stark morning floor that I live on, does not provide such luxuries. I seem to recall a time when I did feel happy. And the memory of that is fading even as the leaves turn again.

And something seems to push me to bid farewell to earth and sky and tree. Almost as if I feel I shall not see them again at this time. I have no desire to forsake the earthly ties. I simply feel as though I have run my course. There really is little else for me to reach for past October. I shall simply gray out into shadow, always behind something in the sun.

Say (All I Need) by OneRepublic

Do you know where your heart is?
Do you think you can find it?
Or did you trade it for something
Somewhere better just to have it?
Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong, but
Nothing's turned out how you wanted

Well, bless my soul
You're a lonely soul
Cause you won't let go
Of anything you hold

Well, all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

Do you know what your fate is?
And are you trying to shake it?
You're doing your best and
Your best look
You're praying that you make it

Well, bless my soul
You're a lonely soul
Cause you won't let go
Of anything you hold

Well, all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

I said I all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Better than you had it
Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Yeah, better than you had it (Better than you had it)

I said I all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

I said I all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

Whenever the end is
Do you think you can see it?
Well, until you get there
Go on, go ahead and scream it
Just say it

Elisa - Rock Your Soul

The more I think, the less I see
when I'm able to walk
I'm queen of my world
I let it rain on my skin
I don't let myself down
I don't let myself down
just wanna be one with you
wanna be one with you
The more I think, the less I do
when I'm able to talk
I'm queen of my world
I let it rain on my skin
I don't ask myself why
I don't ask myself why
I wanna be one with you
wanna be one with you

and all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul

I feel closer to the clouds
I'm touching all the highest leaves
on top of the trees
It's my desire's release
we let it rain on our skin
you're holding my hand
I'm holding your life
'n I feel like I'm one with you

and all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul

I think I have to give you something
more than words is that something
I show you my dreams
to make 'em our dreams
won't you just be
I'm what you see

and all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul
all I want is to rock your soul

Together with the sun
we shine all the way
together with the rain
we fall through the air
Together with the sun
we shine all the way
together with the rain
with the sun
with the rain
the rain and the sun
together with the rain
and the sun
only with the rain the rain
and the sun
with the sun
with the sun
with the sun
with the sun

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you

Fireworks

We can see at least 4 different municipal firework shows from our office window. Also, the people who live down the hill from us are setting off fireworks illegally. As well as a number of people in the valley.

Not having to leave home for 4th of July: priceless.
